- ND YAG is ideal for removing tattoos, and generating a new layer of skin after the procedure. Its ND YAG or neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser produces a wavelength of light (1064 nm) that can be doubled naturally (532 nm). This combination of wavelengths is absorbed by 95% of ink colors. This means that 95% of ink colors can be laser treated to fade and remove tattoos. The chances of your tattoo fitting into 95% of the tattoo ink colors available are pretty great. Black, gray and red tattoos fit into this spectrum. Generally, warm tones of ink are applied for successful removal with this type of laser.
